We are happy to announce that our $2500 matching grant from Lifesong has been matched!

IN FIVE DAYS!!!

Only God could be so faithful to provide!

We had a free weekend and a hotel deal and were planning to take a short family vacation since Josh had missed some of our birthdays this month.  We looked at various places...then ended up deciding on Phoenix.

My family is in Phoenix, but it isn't one of our favorite vacation destinations!  :-)

But God knew we needed to be there.

On Friday we met with the sweet lady who hosted a Premier Jewelry party which helped raise over $200 for Toby!

On Sunday, we were blessed with the chance to speak at my parents' church, West Greenway Bible Church.  This church family has been so supportive of our big extended family and has a big heart for foster and adoptive families.  They prayed over us with such love and support...and they gave just as generously.  We came away with $1600 to put toward our Lifesong grant!

And then...a simple gift of four free Disney tickets turned into a way to raise $640!!!!

Praise the LORD!

He is so faithful and we are so humbled.

Oh how we can't wait to let Toby know how LOVED he is!  How many people have thought he was a treasure just like we have!

Why we brought him back home...

The new school year is in full swing, we've had a wonderful summer and I am enjoying teaching all FOUR of my boys this year!  Yes, after having Toby in public school for a year, we prayerfully decided to bring him home to learn with his brothers. I thought that perhaps by sharing a bit of this part of our story, others may be encouraged to make hard decisions, listen to the Lord's prompting and take a leap of faith. Home for Six Months

Today marks our six month anniversary of bringing Toby home. I'm not going to lie.  It has been a rough six months.  I think it takes courage - something I haven't quite had up until now - to be real and honest and put some of the ponderings of your heart into words that can be read by so many.  In all actuality, as one sweet friend so aptly put it, "It is as if God had silenced my words." I'm a pretty wordy person...and it was such a joy to keep up with this blog and write about all that God was doing as we committed to Toby, saw miracle after miracle in the fundraising and paperwork process, and took the adventure across the world to bring home our son. But once we got home, my words have failed me.  Of course Josh and I have talked...and talked...and talked until we are exhausted about it all.  About how we didn't expect this.  How we thought it would be different.  How we are tired.  How sometimes we are just plain sad to see how our family ha

Life with FASD

If you've been reading our blog for any length of time, you know the background story of how we discovered that our newest son didn't have Celiac Disease as listed on his profile, but instead had a host of other issues...foremost among them, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.  (I wrote about it a little in the post  "Home for Six Months" .) Before I begin to describe what life has been like learning how to parent a child with FASD, I want to be sure you know that we are in no way experts on this disorder.  There are so many amazing resources available with much more specific information:  books, websites, support groups, etc.  (Maybe the BEST resource is an adoptive parent of a child with FASD!)  But our hope is to shed more light on the day-to-day issues we face, dealing with Toby's disability and learning what it means to love him and give him the best support in the midst of it.
