Quilts for Toby: Part 2

This time, we are auctioning four different baby quilts. Each quilt will start at $30 and can increase in bids by $5. I will post this on our Facebook page as well, and will keep updates on which quilts have bids and for how much.

All four of these were hand made....


Quilt #1: Made by my friend's mom. Measures 39" x 65" and shows scenes of bears doing sports activities in pastel boy colors.

Quilt #2: Made by my friend's mom. Measures 41" by 52" and shows cute scenes of safari animals.

Quilt #3: Made by me. This one measures 21" x 41" and depicts a reproduction 1930s vintage baby quilt design called "Off to Dreamland" with scenes from nursery rhymes.

Quilt #4: Designed and pieced together by my step daughter Sarah and quilted by me. Measures 28" x 34". This one is in the cute and trendy color scheme of black, pink, white and green with owls and geometric patterns. Perfect for a baby girl!

Each one took hours and hours of love and labor, so we hope we can find homes for these!

Bidding will be closed on Friday evening and I will announce the winners, collect addresses and send them off! All donations can be deposited to our You Caring fundraising page.

Thank you for helping us get the word out about these quilts! It would be amazing if we could raise even more than $120 for them! Every dollar goes to bring Toby home!

Each shirt is $20.

We picked the extra soft kind of t-shirt, which tends to run just a little snugger than normal shirts, so when ordering, choose a size up if you are in doubt. Sizes are Adult S, M, L, XL, 2XL and 3XL. (For 2XL and 3XL, add $2.00)

We will have this fundraiser open until August 7th, at which point I will place the order and have the t-shirts sent out about two weeks after that.  (If you need me to send you the shirt, please add $5 to your order to help with shipping costs! Every dollar counts!!!!)

Please leave a comment here with your request - size and quantity. If you are in the Phoenix area, you can get the money to my mom, Rebecca Kerger, and she will be able to get you the t-shirts when they come in.

Other payment options would be sending a check (I can get you the mailing address) or using our You Caring Donation Page  donation page. If you choose this route, please add $1 to your order, since Paypal takes out a 3% service fee.

Our goal is to sell at least 100 of these shirts!!! 100 people advertising God's heart for orphans and getting Toby's story told! 100 people supporting this journey to bring him home soon!!!!

We are excited to see how much we can raise! The more shirts ordered, the lower the cost per shirt for us and the more money in the adoption account!  Please get the word out!!!  You are welcome to share this on any social media site or on your own blogs!!!

    I have been advocating, praying for Toby, and also praying that He would put Toby in a VERY, VERY STRONG CHRISTIAN FAMILY for a while now!!!! He has finally answered my prayers. I blogged about this very blog-post today:

      Oh, thank you so much!! God is so good! Toby has been so surrounded by prayer..it moves us greatly! Please keep praying and advocating for him! We have a lot of mobey to raise. Paperwork is getting done quickly...hoping and praying to have him home before Christmas!! God bless you!!

The new school year is in full swing, we've had a wonderful summer and I am enjoying teaching all FOUR of my boys this year!  Yes, after having Toby in public school for a year, we prayerfully decided to bring him home to learn with his brothers. I thought that perhaps by sharing a bit of this part of our story, others may be encouraged to make hard decisions, listen to the Lord's prompting and take a leap of faith. Home for Six Months

Today marks our six month anniversary of bringing Toby home. I'm not going to lie.  It has been a rough six months.  I think it takes courage - something I haven't quite had up until now - to be real and honest and put some of the ponderings of your heart into words that can be read by so many.  In all actuality, as one sweet friend so aptly put it, "It is as if God had silenced my words." I'm a pretty wordy person...and it was such a joy to keep up with this blog and write about all that God was doing as we committed to Toby, saw miracle after miracle in the fundraising and paperwork process, and took the adventure across the world to bring home our son. Life with FASD

If you've been reading our blog for any length of time, you know the background story of how we discovered that our newest son didn't have Celiac Disease as listed on his profile, but instead had a host of other issues...foremost among them, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.  (I wrote about it a little in the post  "Home for Six Months" .) Before I begin to describe what life has been like learning how to parent a child with FASD, I want to be sure you know that we are in no way experts on this disorder.  There are so many amazing resources available with much more specific information:  books, websites, support groups, etc.  (Maybe the BEST resource is an adoptive parent of a child with FASD!)  But our hope is to shed more light on the day-to-day issues we face, dealing with Toby's disability and learning what it means to love him and give him the best support in the midst of it.
